主要用于聚酰胺高档工程塑料、长碳链尼龙及其制品。是尼龙1212、尼龙612和尼龙1012的主要原材料。还可作为高级芳香剂中间体、高档润滑油、润滑油防腐剂及高级轿车喷涂材料。
作为有机防锈剂正被广泛应用于各个工业领域，以取代无机防锈剂。长链二元酸作为防锈剂中添加剂的一种，能够在低浓度、无毒和可生物降解等条件下达到有效的防锈效果。
1.切削液常用的防锈剂有：油酸、葵二酸、醇胺类、汽巴三元酸、十一酸、十二酸、混合酸等，单从防锈性能上说，十二碳二元酸具有极佳的防锈效果。
2.十二碳二酸与辛醇合成的二酯可用作为喷气式飞机发动机和燃气轮机用高级润滑油外，还可以用作低温润滑脂的基础油料。
金属加工领域的应用
1、添加量1-5%，与三乙醇胺混合比例约1:3。
2、反应物可用单乙醇胺、二乙醇胺、三乙醇胺或二异丙醇胺调节PH值。
3、可制成酰胺，除具有防锈性还有优越的清洗性能。
